Elementary students paint 5th grader’s drawing on Macomb County snowplow

Road Commission picks design as contest winner

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A snowplow in Macomb County now features a design by a fifth grade student after she won a contest her teacher started.

Students at Shelby Township’s Switzer Elementary drew ideas to put on a plow. The Macomb County Road Commission selected an Abominable Snowman drawn by Carys Arnold.

“My little brother Cullen saw me signing this and he goes, ‘You could put blood on the teeth,’ and my thought was a friendly, nice little Yeti, Abominable Snowman. I didn’t want blood I wanted it to look real friendly,” Arnold said.

The students who entered the contest helped paint the design on a plow that will make its rounds this winter.

County Executive Mark Hackel said there’s one issue with the newly painted truck ...

“We’re having a hard time because the drivers coming out of that area all want to ride this truck now,” he said.
