DETROIT – Four teens are accused of assaulting and robbing a 48-year-old woman when she was on her way to her job as a 911 dispatcher in Detroit.
Lathyas Sutton, 17, Bennie Robinson, 18, Marquise Goodman, 17, and Jayelin Hawkins, 16, all face one count of armed robbery. Although Hawkins is only 16, he will be tried as an adult, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said.
The teens, minus Hawkins, are expected to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon in 36th District Court. Hawkins is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
The woman was robbed while walking to work about 11 p.m. Jan. 3 on Lydon Street near Shaeffer Road on the city’s west side.
Surveillance video shows four people following the woman shortly after she gets off a bus, which she takes regularly to get to work.
Watch:
Once the woman reached her destination, one of the men stepped in front of her while the other three stood behind her. The men then attack the woman and rob her before fleeing.
