Schulz said a man, who had a small child with him, refused to come out when officers went to the apartment.

"He made comments that gave us concern for the safety of the officers and himself and the child that was still inside the apartment," Schulz said.

Shulz said the man was eventually coaxed out safely.

Police have not released any more details on the suspect or his relation to the small child.
