Firefighters battle fire at Fraser Manor Apartments

FRASER, Mich. – Firefighters battled flames Monday morning at an apartment building in Fraser after a resident ran door to door waking neighbors.

The fire happened at the Fraser Manor Apartments at Fraser Drive and Utica Road. 

Jack Kowalik saw 20 foot flames shoot from under a balcony at about 6 a.m. and began banging on doors alerting residents.

Two people were injured in the fire. One man suffered burns to his arms and hands. No other injuries were reported. 

Overall, four apartment units were damaged by the fire. 

Authorities said careless smoking may be to blame for the fire.
