Video captures ATM thieves in Warren smash-and-grab

WARREN, Mich. – Surveillance video captured two men struggling to load an ATM into a truck Friday morning in Warren.

The smash-and-grab happened at Joe's General Store near the intersection of Hoover and Nine Mile roads. 

Police said two men jumped out of a red truck and attempted to break through the front door. When they couldn't get in, one of the men drove the truck into the front of the store until they could get inside. 

Surveillance video captured the two men running inside and pulling a large ATM that they placed in the back of the truck.

The pair drove off in the truck, leaving behind piles of rubble and glass at the store. It's one of many recent smash-and-grab burglaries across the Metro Detroit area.

Police are working to figure out if the robberies are connected. The investigation is ongoing.
