Gibraltar Trade Center to close Mt. Clemens location after 37 years

Operations to continue as normal through August

MT. CLEMENS, Mich. – The Weekend Public Market will be closing after 37 years, the Gibraltar Trade Center Inc. announced Sunday.

“The decision to close this part of our business after 37 years has been extremely difficult to make and announce," president and CEO Bob Koester said. The impact on the many small businesses and our employees is very disappointing for everyone involved.”

Gibraltar Trade Center said it will continue to operate the Gibraltar Rug and Furniture Outlet in Warren, in addition to adding three more locations throughout the area. Gibraltar Gun and Knife Shows will also continue to operate.

“Market factors played the most significant role in this decision," Koester said. "The impact of online sales on small brick and mortar businesses is substantial. Declining revenue and sales are forecast to continue to accelerate in the years to come.”

The Weekend Public Market will remain open for business and will continue to operate per usual through the end of August.

"We would also like to say thank you for 37 wonderful years," the company said in a statement.
