Grosse Pointe Woods stranger danger canceled after woman comes forward

GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. – Police have identified a woman they said was involved in a stranger danger incident in Grosse Pointe Woods Thursday.

It was reported that a woman approached a boy while he was walking to school and told him to get in her van.

Police said the woman saw a news story about the incident and notified the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety to explain what happened.

She told police she was driving her child to school when she saw the boy walking in the rain. She said that the boy looked cold, so she offered him a ride, but intended no harm.

Police verified that the woman and her vehicle matched the description given, and the school and boy’s parents confirmed her story.

The woman apologized for creating a scare.
