The scene is in the eastbound lanes near Mt. Elliott. Traffic was clogged between there and Van Dyke.

The fire started when the tanker's cab lost a wheel and it hit the pavement.

The driver was able to escape the fire.

A hazmat crew is on scene because the tanker was carrying paint thinner - but there's no immediate threat to anyone in the area.

The tanker fire shut down the eastbound lanes of I-94 between Mt. Elliott and Van Dyke.
