DETROIT – Detroit police and EMS crews responded to a school bus accident Wednesday afternoon in Detroit.
The accident was near Cathedral and Heyden on the city's west side. Ten children were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Police investigators say a car hit the school bus at the intersection and fled. Police caught up to that car, a Dodge Charger, about a block down the street. However, they are still looking for the driver. They know who the car is registered to and are looking for that person.

Sources tell Local 4 all the children should be OK. There were 30 students from Dixon Elementary on the bus. All of them were treated on scene, and the ones taken to hospitals were treated for knee and neck injuries.
Detroit Public Schools released this statement Wednesday evening:
"A bus operated by one of the district's transportation service providers was hit on the front corner in an accident involving a vehicle which reportedly ran a stop sign while driving southbound on Heyden Street at Cathedral Street, and then also fled the scene. Students on the bus attend nearby Dixon Elementary-Middle School. DPS police have located the car several blocks from the accident site. The bus sustained minor damage.
Current reports are that five students were transported to Children's Hospital and five to Sinai-Grace. The students indicated potential neck and back injuries after walking off the bus.
The school's principal is visiting the hospital and the school is working to contact parents at this time."
