Macomb Township family’s pet parrot stolen from home

Couple says they knew suspect through bird community

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is reviewing a video of a man stealing a parrot from a home in Macomb Township.

Chris Urbancyzk said he was at work when he got a call from his fiancée Lauryn Siler.

“This guy that we knew from the past arrived and he was kind of drunk and acting kind of weird. He forced his way into the house and she was trying to keep the conversation calm while I was on my way home,” Urbancyzk said.

He said things quickly escalated and turned violent.

“That’s when he started getting physical with her,” he said.

Urbancyzk said the suspect attacked Siler and stole their parrot and its eggs.

“Going over to the cage and went over to the cage and grabbed the box off the cage that had the bird in it, with the eggs in it. He was hitting my dog with that,” said Urbancyzk.

Siler, who is visually impaired, she said she tried to stop him.

“He knew I wasn’t going to let him out the front door with my bird. That’s my baby and that’s what I was screaming with him. I can’t even put into words. I can’t explain to you what these birds are to me. We don’t have children of our own, so these are our children. My biggest thing, I just want my bird back,” she said,

The couple said they knew the suspect through the bird community. Meanwhile, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and confirms to Local 4 that they have identified the suspect.
