8 units at Cranbrook Centre Apartments in Southfield destroyed in fire

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Officials said eight units at the Cranbrook Centre Apartments in Southfield were destroyed in a fire.

Officials received a report of a fire at Cranbrook Centre Apartments around 8 a.m. Monday morning.

The fire ripped through an eight-unit building, burning through the first and second floors. Callers said flames were through the roof.

Southfield Fire Chief Johnny Menifee said when crews arrived there was heavy smoke and heavy flames. Crews were able to get the fire under control in about 40 minutes.

First responders were on the scene within about six minutes of getting the call. Crews from Bloomfield Township, Birmingham, Ferndale, Royal Oak, Farmington Hills, and Madison Heights responded.

No injuries were reported.
