Officials said work was being done on the water heater in the basement, and they suspect that’s what caused the explosion.

A 52-year-old man and a 1-year-old boy were home at the time. They were both taken to a nearby hospital with minor burns and are listed as stable, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and will determine the official cause of the explosion.
