WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two people were killed and two others were injured when an SUV crossed the center line of a Macomb County road and crashed head-on into a car, police said.

The crash happened around 12:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, in the area of Van Dyke and West roads in Washington Township.

Deputies said a white Ford Bronco was heading south on Van Dyke Road when it crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a Toyota Prius. A gray Chrysler 200 heading north on Van Dyke Road then crashed into the back of the Prius, authorities said.

The 58-year-old Oakland Township man driving the Bronco was pronounced dead at Henry Ford Hospital. A 38-year-old Livonia man riding as a passenger in the Prius was pronounced dead at Troy Beaumont Hospital.

The drivers of the Prius and Chrysler 200 suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Van Dyke Road was shut down at West Road during the investigation. DTE crews were called because the Bronco hit a utility pole, causing downed wires.
