MUNDY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 30-car pileup was reported Thursday on U.S. 23, closing the freeway in both directions for a few hours.

The freeway was shut down near Baldwin Road in Mundy Township, which is southwest of Flint in Genesee County. Both directions reopened before 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024.

Deputies with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said there were “multiple” crashes, including a 30-car pileup. They told drivers to be safe if they’re out on the roads due to the winter weather.

Flint Township police originally asked drivers to avoid the entire area of U.S. 23 and Baldwin Road. That area has now been cleared.
