DETROIT – A Detroit couple is opening a space where they believe local artists and creatives can find inspiration.
The Creators’ Nest is an industrial loft space with high ceilings, plenty of natural light, exposed brick, light-colored hardwood floors, updated appliances, and bold-colored accent furniture throughout the space.
Co-founders Adam Vaught and Stephanie Vaught said the studio was designed and curated for various artists who may be looking to escape and find inspiration.
“You have a lot of shared spaces. You have a lot of coworking spaces. But, at The Creators’ Nest, when you book at The Creators’ Nest, it’s just going to be you,” said Adam.
The couple said the studio space has three distinct areas. One is for producing podcasts. Another is a gathering area where culinary artists can access an updated and fully functioning kitchen. That area could be used for intimate dinner demonstrations or meetings.
The Vaughts also have a larger room they call the gallery. It’s an open space where photographers, visual artists, or even musicians can collaborate or find motivation.
“It’s an open area, where if someone wanted to do a private showing if they wanted to do photos, there’s a lot of versatility in this room,” said Stephanie.
The Creators’ Nest understands the environment most artists need to thrive. The Vaughts describe themselves as atmosphere engineers.
“I think it’s having unique understanding of what people need, or maybe don’t even realize they need,” Stephanie said.
Her husband Adam’s background is in fashion design. He said spaces like this can inspire creativity.
“You think your home is going to be like the perfect spot, but you still have the distractions,” Adam said. “The distractions of being comfortable or television. Sometimes, it can be your spouse or your pet. "
The Detroiters hope The Creators’ Nest will help its clients find their flow.
Stephanie said, “One of the biggest things I think creatives need is environment. That’s a huge benefit when you are looking to unleash creativity that perhaps feels stifled or stuck, and environment plays a big role in that.”
The couple said their space is about helping to energize artists and creators in a safe space where they can channel their imaginations to produce amazing work.
