Beloved Catholic Bishop Thomas Gumbleton dies at 94 He’s remembered for his advocacy against war and racism
Detroit Catholic Bishop Thomas Gumbleton has died at the age of 94.
For decades, Gumbleton was a significant international voice against war and racism and a respected advocate for labor and social justice.
The 94-year-old bishop became a national religious figure in the 1960s when he publicly opposed the United States’ role in the Vietnam War.
Gumbleton spoke out against war and met victims of violence around the world.
