According to authorities, a Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) team was following a black Jeep Patriot on Lansing’s west side Friday, April 12, that had Marcus Gamba Oglesby as a passenger. Police said Oglesby was a parole absconder who was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including aggravated assault.

When the Jeep entered Delta Township, police said Oglesby exited the passenger seat with a handgun and fired at the MDOC vehicle, whose agents returned fire.

No one was struck by gunfire during the shootout.

Police said the MDOC agents followed the vehicle to a shopping plaza, where Oglesby ran on foot and the Jeep drove off.

Law enforcement in multiple counties searched for Oglesby, who they considered armed and dangerous at the time. Residents were warned to not approach him but to call 911 if seen.

Police located the Jeep later that day behind a home in Lansing on Drexel Street. The home was searched by a Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team, but Oglesby was not located. He was captured by a Michigan State Police Fugitive Task Force Tuesday, April 16, at a home in Jackson.

He has since been lodged at the Jackson County Jail.
