Man charged with first-degree murder in shooting at Oakland County motel

ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 25-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting at an Oakland County motel.

The shooting happened March 9 at the American Inn and Suites on West 8 Mile Road in Royal Oak Township. Police said a 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hotel.

Michigan State Police confirmed Wednesday, May 1, that Jason McCullough, a 25-year-old man from Detroit, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He was remanded to the Oakland County Jail without bond.

If convicted, McCullough faces the possibility of life in prison.
