TAYLOR, Mich. – A police helicopter captured footage of a driver going 150 mph, weaving dangerously through traffic on Metro Detroit freeways, and eventually getting out of his car to sprint from cops.

Officials with the Michigan State Police Trooper 3 helicopter overhead a driver as he fled from a Detroit traffic stop at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024.

The helicopter followed the Dodge Challenger as it reached speeds of 130-150 mph and weaved through traffic.

The Challenger eventually slowed down in the area of Statler and Canyon streets in Taylor. It went around a patrol car and clipped the front passenger side tire of a second patrol car.

Aerial video shows the 32-year-old Detroit driver getting out of the Challenger and running away from police. He was arrested after a short chase.

Officials took the man to a nearby hospital and then to the Taylor Police Department.

The Challenger was stolen, police said.
