Construction on the Gordie Howe International Bridge continues, and now that we have reached the month of May, and important question has come up.

Will this be the month the bridge decks — one which started to be built on the American side and the other on the Canadian side — will be connected in the middle?

A spokesperson for the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority said on Thursday that no specific date or timetable has been set for the connection of the two decks.

It’s pretty obvious that they are close, as evidenced by this Facebook post saying the gap was just a few feet away.

Even if May doesn’t turn out to be the month for the milestone moment of the decks being connected, that occasion should occur this summer.

The bridge was originally expected to open later this year, but it was announced in January that pandemic-related delays pushed back the opening until late 2025.
