HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police saved a man who was “turning blue” in a pickup truck that had crashed in the median of I-275.

The crash happened at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024, on southbound I-275 near Sibley Road in Huron Township.

Officials said a 21-year-old Carleton man was driving a pickup truck when he lost control and went into the center median. The pickup jumped the turnaround and came to a stop in the median.

Huron Township police said when they arrived, the driver was “turning blue and barely breathing.” They administered two doses of Narcan and took the man to a nearby hospital.

“Great job by the Huron Township officers recognizing the driver was overdosing and administering Narcan,” Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said.

The man is now stable.

State troopers took a blood sample, and lab results are pending.

The left lane of northbound I-275 was closed for about an hour during the investigation.
