Signature fraud, rule violations lead to removal of candidates from Michigan ballot

Multiple candidates were removed in 2022 due to the submission of thousands of bogus sheets

The Michigan Bureau of Elections has made a significant move, removing eight United States House candidates and one United States Senate candidate from the ballot, which could potentially reshape the political landscape.

The issues range from signature fraud to an inability to follow basic rules.

Republicans Josh Saul and JD Wilson were removed from Michigan’s 1st Congressional District, and Republican Nikki Snyder was removed from the 8th Congressional District.

In the 10th Congressional District, Democrats Anil Kumar and Rhonda Powell were removed.

In the 12th Congressional District, Democrat Ryan Foster and Republicans Steven Elliot and Hassan Nehme were removed.

In the Michigan Senate race, Democrat Nasser Beyfoun was removed.

In its report, the state Bureau of Elections has uncovered a new trend among fraudsters.

They are attempting to be more cunning by mixing in obviously doctored petition sheets, a stark contrast to the 2022 election cycle, when multiple candidates were removed due to the submission of thousands of bogus sheets without any attempt to conceal them.
