Driver charged for crash that seriously hurt 2 others at major Canton Township intersection

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A driver has been charged for a crash that left two other people seriously injured at a major intersection in Canton Township.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Canton Center and Ford roads.

Officials said a Ryan Emery, 44, of Northville, was driving a black GMC Sierra north on Canton Center Road when he crashed into a black Mitsubishi Eclipse that was westbound on Ford Road.

Emery and two people from the Eclipse -- a 51-year-old Canton Township man and a 49-year-old Canton Township woman -- were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

On Sunday, Wayne County prosecutors charged Emery with two counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, which is a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

He was arraigned at 36th District Court and given a $50,000 personal bond. He must wear a GPS tether and be monitored for alcohol use, if released.

The next court date is scheduled for July 12.
