According to WDIV-Detroit, the victim was told by a scammer pretending to be a Canton Township police officer that the victim needed to post bond in order to avoid being arrested. At that point the victim was transferred to someone posing as a U.S. The victim was told to load money on several gift cards and then give those card numbers to the person posing as a marshal. The victim was also instructed to make payments through Cash App and Zelle.

Plymouth-Canton Educational Park schools on lockdown, police investigating ‘potential threat’
CANTON, MICH. -- Police are on the scene at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, where schools have been locked down due to a “potential threat” on campus. According to a press release from the Canton Police Department, officers with the CPD and the Plymouth and Plymouth Township police departments are conducting a search on the property as part of an investigation into the potential threat. The campus, located in Canton Township, is home to Canton High School, Plymouth High School and Salem High School. Along with the schools on campus, the parking lots and nearby roads also have been closed by police. The lockdown comes a little more than a week after a school shooting at Oxford High School left four students dead.

According to a release from the Michigan Attorney General, Parana filled out an absentee ballot addressed to his daughter that had arrived at his home before the Nov. 3 election. Parana forged her name to the back of the ballot envelope and mailed it to the Canton Township Clerk’s Office. Attorney General Dana Nessel said this case shows that her office is vigilant in pursuing rare cases of voter fraud. Nessel said countless additional allegations of fraud in the November general election were been made without proof.

CANTON TOWNSHIP, MI – A Southeast Michigan school district is clearing the way for its transgender students to use restrooms and locker rooms they identify with; the same goes for sports. Under the new policy, born females who are transgender can use male facilities and participate in male sports, and vice-versa, WDIV Local 4 reports. It was approved by the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Board of Education during a virtual meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 8. The policy is aimed at providing a “more safe, welcoming environment to all of our students... especially those who are often marginalized, bullied and assaulted at higher rates,” said Patti McCoin, school board president. The policy has been in the works for about a year, the TV station reports.
