Explosion at GM Factory ZERO in Detroit injures 1 on Thanksgiving

DETROIT – Hazmat teams gave the “All clear” after an explosion rocked General Motors' Factory ZERO in Detroit.

The Detroit Fire Department responded to the scene on Thursday (Nov. 28) and said that a cylinder blew up on Thanksgiving Day, injuring one employee.

Emergency teams transported the worker to a Metro Detroit hospital.

Local 4 was told that the victim was expected to be OK.

Detroit fire says the cylinder that blew up was not part of an electric vehicle.

We reached out to GM for an official statement.

“An incident occurred at Factory ZERO earlier today, resulting in one employee being transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Safety is our overriding priority, and we will continue to investigate the cause of the incident."
