Severe storms possible across Southeast Michigan overnight: Here’s what to expect

DETROIT – Southeast Michigan has a risk of severe thunderstorms Friday, April 18.

A warm and windy day with temperatures near 80 degrees will be broken up by a slow-moving cold front crossing the state. It could bring storms, damaging winds and even hail.

Isolated storms capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and large hail are possible.

Storms are expected to arrive between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., most likely between midnight and 3 a.m.

The areas north of M-59 are expected to be the biggest at risk for severe weather.

Showers are possible Saturday, but things are expected to dry out before the afternoon.
