Alcohol suspected in Livingston County crash that killed 16-year-old

GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police in Green Oak Township are investigating a crash that killed a 16-year-old and injured two other teens.

It happened just after 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, on Whitmore Lake Road, near M-36.

According to authorities, a Mercury Montego driven by an 18-year-old rolled, causing a 16-year-old who was sitting in the back to be ejected from the car. First responders gave the teen aid, but they died at the scene.

The driver and a 16-year-old passenger who sat in the front seat were both hospitalized for their injuries.

Police believe alcohol or drugs played a role and that the driver refused a breath test. A test of the driver’s blood is currently pending.

The three occupants were not named by police as they are still working on notifying the families

The investigation is ongoing.
