According to authorities, law enforcement was dispatched to a Rochester Hills movie theater on April 1, where a 20-year-old woman said she had been sexually assaulted by her ex-boyfriend in the parking lot.
She told Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies that she met with him because he threatened to post explicit photographs of her on social media if she didn’t meet with him. It’s something he reportedly had already done a month prior.
The two reportedly met in Auburn Hills to talk about the photos, but when she got into his car, he unexpectedly drove her to the movie theater in Rochester Hills, where he forcefully took her phone.
When she attempted to take the phone back, he reportedly punched her in the face. She tried to escape the vehicle, but he allegedly locked her in, held her down and physically and sexually assaulted her.
Khan was arrested that night and was lodged at the Oakland County Jail.
The sheriff’s office said that after he was locked up, he and his family reached out multiple times to the victim and the victim’s family and attempted to pressure them to drop the charges.
Khan was charged on April 4 with third-degree criminal sexual conduct and unlawful imprisonment. He was given a $100,000 cash/surety bond.
During his preliminary hearing on May 13, the Oakland County prosecutor amended his third-degree criminal sexual conduct to first-degree and added the additional charges of assault by strangulation and witness intimidation.
Khan’s bond was revoked. He has since been bound over to circuit county court to stand trial.
