MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A woman was killed and a 19-year-old was seriously injured in a Summerfield Township crash.
The crash happened at 4:08 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, on Summerfield Road, north of Teal Road, in Summerfield Township.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a 19-year-old from Toledo, Ohio, was driving a Mazda southbound on Summerfield Road when he rear-ended a Jeep Wrangler causing the Jeep to turn onto its side.
The Jeep slid down the road until rolling over on its roof and landing in the ditch.
The driver of the Jeep, Janet Daniel, 61, from Holland, Ohio, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The 19-year-old was transported to Toledo Hospital and listed in serious condition.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to officials.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 734-240-7548.
