OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Transportation is looking for feedback from the community about the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-75 in Oakland County.
The HOV lanes, which opened in fall 2023, are located between 12 Mile Road and South Boulevard.
They are operated as HOV lanes from 6-9 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. on weekdays. During these times, vehicles must have at least two human occupants to legally travel in these lanes, according to MDOT. Emergency vehicles, transit buses and motorcycles are exempt from these rules.
Outside of the designated HOV lane hours, anyone can use the HOV lanes regardless of how many people are in their car.
Now, MDOT is encouraging the public to participate in a survey so officials can learn more about how these lanes have impacted travel for those who drive on I-75 in Oakland County.
The survey is anonymous and will be open through June 30.
