The incident occurred on Sept. 26, 2024, on Rockwell Street, when Valleau walked up to the woman’s USPS delivery vehicle because he was angry that she had delivered political campaign ads for Harris.
Court documents revealed the 62-year-old Oakland County man shouted racist, sexual, and derogatory comments about the mail carrier and Harris.
Valleau then attempted to attack her through an open passenger window and only stopped when she sprayed him with mace.
When taken into custody, police said Valleau continued to use racist and sexist slurs about the letter carrier.
After a three-day trial, a jury unanimously found that Valleau intentionally selected the letter carrier as a target because of her actual or perceived race or color.
It took two hours for the jury to convict him of assaulting a federal employee.
