Detroit police launch homicide investigation after man dies from blunt force injuries

Homicide detectives want to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident

DETROIT – The Detroit Police Department is investigating an assault as a homicide after Lamar Williams was assaulted with a blunt object.

The incident occurred on Nov. 15, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Mt. Elliot.

Police from the 7th Precinct responded to the scene and made contact with Williams before he was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital to be treated for the injuries, but he succumbed in March 2025.

Homicide detectives want to speak with anyone who may have been witnessed to the incident or been in the area at the time of the incident.
