LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. – Two construction workers are in critical condition after being electrocuted at a work site in Livingston County.
The incident occurred on Thursday (June 5) at 12:30 p.m. when deputies, along with Brighton Area Fire personnel, were dispatched to a commercial construction site on Latson Road south of Grand River Avenue in Genoa Township.
Police said their investigation revealed employees on site were pouring concrete when the boom spreader from the concrete truck came into contact with a primary power line, causing it to break and fall.
Officials said the two employees on the ground were struck by the falling power line, which resulted in their being electrocuted.
Police said they were both transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in critical condition by Livingston County EMS.
Deputies were assisted on the scene by DTE, and the incident was turned over to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Officials stated that additional information regarding the victims or the company would not be released at this time.
