Detroit launches new office to end violence, strengthen community -- what to know Mayor Sheffield launched office a week ago
Mayor Mary Sheffield launched the city’s Office of Neighborhood and Community Safety a week ago, with the goal of ending violence and strengthening community well-being.
The office will bring city departments, community partners and residents on the same page. It will also put people affected by violence in the room where decisions are made.
Longtime community advocate Teferi Brent will serve as Director. He joined Local 4 Live on Tuesday to talk more about violence prevention. You can watch the full interview at the beginning of this article.
