HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A toddler has died after he was found in the Clinton River on Monday, officials said.
At 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, deputies responded to a call about a missing child, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
The toddler had been last seen at his home on Manse Street in Harrison Township.
At about 11:30 a.m., the boy was found in the Clinton River about 50 feet from his home. Deputies administered life-saving measures, and the boy was rushed to the hospital.
Authorities said the water was roughly 5 feet deep where he was found.
In an update at about 2 p.m. on Monday, the sheriff’s office said the toddler, identified as 2-year-old Maxwell Anderson, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
“The thoughts and prayers of the MCSO go out to the family and friends of the young child,” the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
The investigation is ongoing.
No other details have been released at this time.
