See where DNR stocked 4,900 adult trout in southeast Michigan rivers this spring
The Michigan DNR stocked approximately 4,900 adult trout in the Clinton River (Auburn Hills), Huron River (Proud Lake Recreation Area) and Spring Mill Pond (Island Lake Recreation Area) this month. The Huron River, downstream of the Proud Lake Dam, was stocked with 1,900 brown trout and 1,400 rainbow trout, all ranging in sizes from 13 to 19 inches. Spring Mill Pond was stocked with 380 brown trout and 540 rainbow trout, also ranging in size from 13 to 19 inches. In addition, 200 yearling rainbow trout were stocked in the Huron River and 300 in Spring Mill Pond. Spring Mill Pond at Island Lake Recreation Area:Closed to fishing March 15 to March 31.

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – A southeast Michigan river is part of a study aimed at improving water quality and wastewater treatment in the region, The Associated Press reports. It is part of the Great Lakes Water Authority’s Regional River Water Quality Monitoring Program. New sensors will be installed in the river in Sterling Heights and Clinton Township, north and northeast of Detroit, the report said. Water flow and height are already monitored at both sites; the new sensors will enhance capabilities. Flow gages are used to assess flood conditions and water quality.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MI -- The Macomb County Animal Control has received numerous calls recently for reports of a possible crocodile swimming in the Clinton River. While exploring the river, the WDIV crew used an underwater camera to try to track the reptile. And while they weren’t able to get a clear look at the crocodile, they did film something moving in the water that may have been the crocodile. An enhanced image showed what looks like an crocodile head on the surface of the water. No injuries to humans have been reported and the Macomb County Animal Control will continue to investigate.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Macomb County Animal Control is investigating a suspected crocodile or alligator reported swimming through the Clinton River in Harrison Township. “It was just swimming over there, came up out of the water. It had seen me and then went back down in the water,” said Anthony, who was near the river. Local 4 News' Tim Pamplin explored Clinton River for sightings of the suspected reptile. Rochester Hills firefighters urge extreme caution during river use after water rescue
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. Two individuals were reported as trapped in the Clinton River in Rochester Hills on Tuesday afternoon. The Rochester Hills Fire Department arrived to the area of Avon and South Livernois to rescue the individuals around 5 p.m. Upon arrival firefighters found the individuals out of the water, but their kayaks were wedged in tree debris in the river, officials said. The Rochester Hills Fire Department is urging extreme caution to residents visiting the river due to high water and fast moving currents caused by recent heavy rains. Officials say downtown Midland could be under 9 feet of water due to the condition of the Edenville dam.
Lane closures on I-75 in Auburn Hills through early December due to weather, construction
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. Construction on the I-75 bridge over the Clinton River in Auburn Hills will require lane closures until early December due to weather and unanticipated work, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. Due to the summer and falls heavy rainfall, in addition to this past springs consistent rain, higher-than-normal water levels have been reported in the Clinton River. Scour protection measures and repair to the bridges substructure have required added design work and repairs, according to MDOT. Additionally, the westbound M-59 ramp to southbound I-75 and the southbound I-75 ramp to eastbound M-59 will remain closed as a safety precaution, according to MDOT. Construction on I-75 includes repairing 21 bridges between South Boulevard and Baldwin Road in Auburn Hills and the resurfacing of both directions of the highway between South Boulevard and Griddings Road.
Boater who went overboard in Lake Saint Clair found alive
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. - Officials have found a boater who fell off a boat in Lake Saint Clair in Macomb County. The 43-year-old man went overboard after 8 p.m. Monday just 2.5 miles out of the Clinton River. He was found shortly afterwards.
