MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A truck driver was killed, and multiple workers from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) were injured after a crash on I-75 Tuesday morning.
The crash happened at around 9 a.m. on June 24 in the area of I-75 near I-275 in Frenchtown Township.

According to Michigan State Police, MDOT crews were working on patching the left lane of I-75. The road crew had two MDOT attenuator trucks behind the workers.
A semi-truck drove into the back of one of the attenuator vehicles, jackknifed and spilled aluminum cans on the freeway.
The semi-truck driver, a man, was killed in the crash. Police said his age and hometown are currently unknown.
Police said several MDOT workers sustained minor injuries.
It’s not known if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. Police also said it’s not known if the driver of the truck was wearing a seatbelt.
The investigation is ongoing. It’s not clear when the freeway will reopen.
