WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An Oakland County teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student and telling another teacher about it.
We first reported on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, that Jocelyn Sanroman was facing a charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
As of Monday morning, Sanroman still has not been arraigned on that charge, but Oakland County deputies did post her mugshot.
Sanroman, 26, of Pontiac is accused of being in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy in 2023 while she taught at Oakside Prep Academy in Waterford Township.
Prosecutors said Sanroman told another teacher that she was having sex with a student, and that teacher informed police.
“This defendant is accused of using her position of authority to exploit a minor victim,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said. “These allegations represent the ultimate breach of trust placed in educators by parents and the community.
“As a former teacher myself, I applaud the teacher who contacted police about this situation, protecting other students from further exploitation.”
If convicted on the third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge, Sanroman faces up to 15 years in prison.
