Disease, not poison, likely killed swans found around Michigan lake, DNR says
WATERFORD, MI – At least some of the dead swans recovered from a Michigan lake in April were killed by a parasite, not poison as originally suspected, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Wildlife biologists confirmed that a disease caused by a parasitic flatworm called Verminous Hemorrhagic Ulcerative Enteritis killed three mute swans found dead near Maceday Lake in Waterford Township. Since January, DNR conservation officers have retrieved eight dead mute swans from the lake. The disease of waterfowl is caused by a parasitic flatworm that is passed to birds when they ingest certain freshwater snails. In Michigan, the disease primarily affects mute swans.

Ichim and Marc and Ryan Fishman were arraigned in Genesee County District Court Tuesday, April 6, according to district court documents.

Man arrested on unrelated warrants accused of involvement with fatal Pontiac shooting
PONTIAC, Mich. – A 30-year-old man taken into custody on an unrelated warrant is accused of being involved in a fatal shooting at a Metro Detroit Coney Island restaurant. According to authorities, just before 10 a.m. Jan. 13, Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to D’Anton’s Coney Island, located on West Huron Street, between Telegraph Road and Woodward Avenue, on reports of a dead body. 26-year-old man found dead in Pontiac coney island parking lot, deputies say
PONTIAC, Mich. – A 26-year-old man was found dead in a coney island parking lot in Pontiac, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the Waterford Township man was found at about 9:47 a.m. Wednesday at the D’Antons Coney Island on West Huron Street. The victim’s friend and sister were unable to locate him and searched the area, finding him in a vehicle. Officials said when first responders arrived on the scene, they observed a gunshot wound. Deputies said the suspect is unknown.

Waterford Township police search for man, who they said broke into a gas station on Cooley Lake Road. Police said that with a rock, the man broke the front door glass of the gas station, located in the 5700 block of Cooley Lake Road. But neither police nor the Genesee County Prosecutors Office would elaborate on the allegations.Authorities are typically more forthcoming after someone has been charged.Township officials said they took quick action after learning about the charges. On Thursday, May 30, 2019 the Waterford Police Department became aware that Officer Kevin Thompson had been charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct, 3rd degree, by the Genesee County Prosecutor, the township said in a news release. A woman told Michigan State Police that the chief was intoxicated and forcefully pushed his groin against her butt after making other unwanted sexual advances on June 8. Other women on the bus said the chief "smacked" their butts.
