LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced an ongoing investigation into Twin Flames Universe, an organization that has been called a cult and garnered attention through a Netflix documentary.
The organization is run by Jeff and Shaleia Divine, of Leelanau County, and has a large online following.

Special agents from the attorney general’s office, along with the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General, and officers from Michigan State Police, the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office and the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants as part of the investigation on Tuesday, July 1.
“Today, my office executed multiple search warrants upon individuals atop the Twin Flames Universe organization and its associated properties, under the authority of a judge finding probable cause that crimes have been committed by TFU and their leadership,” said Nessel. “Anyone with information about potential criminal conduct regarding Twin Flames Universe, or their members, are encouraged to contact my office, and may do so anonymously.”
Twin Flames Universe is an online spiritual organization that Jeff and Shaleia Divine created to help people find their true love, or twin flame.
Netflix released a three-part documentary series about the organization in 2023 called “Escaping Twin Flames,” in which former followers revealed the couple’s teachings and practices they found disturbing.
