Search continues for gunman who shot 17-year-old in his head on Detroit’s east side

Boy is listed in critical condition

DETROIT – The streets of Detroit were again plagued by the shooting of yet another teen in the city.

This time it’s a 17-year-old shot at Martin Luther King Apartments at E. Lafayette and St. Auburn.

“Someone came from the corner and just started shooting. I think the shots came from all the way on one side of the building, all the way to the other, where at least 20-30 kids are there at all times. They’re always playing right there,” said an anonymous Woman who lives nearby.

The teen was at least able to make it to the hospital, where he’s trying to recover.

“Unfortunately, right now he’s critical and fighting for his life. It’s very unfortunate,” said Commander Jevon Johnson.

Unfortunately, several cars were also hit.

“We heard something we thought were fireworks until we looked outside. She noticed the damage was done to my car. It’s very disappointing,” said Quintina Key

Investigators are still searching for a suspect, hoping that the area itself may offer some clues.

“This is a greenlight location, so we’re going over all the video assets as well as the cameras in the neighborhood,” Johnson said.

In the meantime, the neighborhood must recover from this shooting, along with a long list of other problems.

“I feel bad for the kids. I feel back in the area. I feel bad for the apartment complex,” the anonymous woman said.

That teen is still in critical condition. Cops are still looking for the shooter.
