OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A 74-year-old Detroit woman who was discovered floating face down and unconscious when she was pulled from a lake in Waterford Township has died.
The woman, whose name is not being released, was reportedly swimming shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, near the beach in Dodge #4 State Park at Cass Lake.

Waterford Township police stated that bystanders reported the woman had been swimming in four feet of water for a short time, and they believed she was snorkeling.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s office said that when bystanders realized she was not moving and she had no snorkeling equipment on, they quickly removed the woman from the water.
Police said paramedics from the Waterford Township Fire Department who responded to the scene began CPR, and the woman was taken to the hospital.
Local 4 learned on July 3 that the woman had died.
The incident is being investigated by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team.
