DEARBORN, Mich. – A Westland man has been charged in connection with the road rage assault of an elderly Dearborn man, police announced.
On Friday, July 4, Dearborn police responded to Michigan Avenue near Nowlin Street after receiving reports about a road rage situation that led to an 85-year-old man being assaulted.

The elderly resident was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
After gathering information from witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from businesses nearby, investigators arrested the suspect on Saturday, July 5.
The suspect, John Kreitner, 55, of Westland, was arraigned on an aggravated assault charge on Monday, July 7, 2025.
He was issued a $20,000 cash bond and ordered to wear a GPS tether.
His probable cause conference is scheduled for July 16.
“Such violence is completely unacceptable in our city and we will use all resources to pursue justice for victims and their families,” said Dearborn Chief of Police Issa Shahin. “We again thank witnesses who aided our investigation and the local business for the use of their surveillance footage that helped us identify and arrest the suspect.”
