WESTLAND, MI – A Michigan man is charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his wife multiple times with scissors, resulting in fatal injuries, officials said. William Scott Grant, 49, of Westland, is charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and torture in connection with the death of his wife, 45-year-old Sarah Grant, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced. At 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, Westland police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 32620 block of Judy Drive for a possible homicide, the release said. Upon arrival, officers found the victim deceased in the garage with multiple lacerations across her body. It is alleged that he stabbed the victim multiple times with a pair of scissors, fatally injuring her.

WESTLAND, MI – A psychiatric patient at a Michigan facility allegedly stabbed a staff member with a metal piece taken from the drop ceiling in his room this week, police said. Michigan State Police were called to the scene around 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Walter Reuther Psychiatric Hospital in Westland, MSP said in a tweet. MSP’s preliminary investigation revealed that the patient concealed the object in his waistband and approached the staff member in a hallway. The patient then allegedly stabbed the male staff member in the neck and shoulder area, police said. The wounded staff member was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

ROSEVILLE, MI – A 36-year-old Westland man is in police custody after a woman’s body was found in a burning mobile home on Monday, FOX 2 Detroit reports. Woman killed in fiery 3-vehicle crash

WESTLAND, MI – A woman was driving through Westland on Tuesday night when a white Camaro struck her vehicle at high speed, causing it to burst into flames, WDIV Detroit reports. The woman is believed to be in her 50s. She died at a hospital shortly after the crash on Tuesday night, Feb. 23, at the intersection of Van Born and Henry Ruff roads, the TV station reports. It’s unclear how many people were in the third vehicle or if they sustained injuries. Car smashes into stop sign near UM medical campus, killing female passenger

ANN ARBOR TWP., MI - A car smashed into an Ann Arbor area stop sign early Sunday morning, killing a female passenger from Westland, officials said. Firefighters responded around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, to the 4200 block of Plymouth Road near Earhart Road in Ann Arbor Township. The incident happened near the entrance to the University of Michigan’s East Medical campus. A male driver was headed east on Plymouth Road prior to the sign being hit, officials from the Ann Arbor Township Fire Department said. The 33-year-old female passenger died at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after Huron Valley Ambulance transported her from the scene.

Michael Joseph FoyWESTLAND — A 29-year-old Westland man who was seen beating a police officer with a hockey stick during the riots at the U.S. Capitol has been charged. Michael Joseph Foy was identified by the FBI through news tips and footage provided by several media outlets that showed him swinging a hockey stick at a police officer who was on the ground. He hit him with a hockey stick over and over in the head.”While there is no evidence that an officer died as a result of the attack, the FBI identified Foy in several photographs. “These photographs indicated that the same individual carrying a hockey stick had been present both outside and inside the Capitol,” the statement said. Foy’s Facebook page shows multiple photos of him at the Capitol on Jan. 6 with an American flag and a Trump flag draped over himself.

Workers At Four Seasons Nursing Home Walk Off Job Over Covid-19, Labor Concerns

Nearly 60 workers at the Four Seasons Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Westland walked off the job Monday. They say several residents and employees have tested positive for Covid-19 and they do not feel safe. Ms. Carlos says she and other workers are taking care of the residents here, but feel they are not being taking care of by management. “Putting residents at risk they put us all on the same unit and sometimes we’re unaware of who has it,” said Carolyn Cole a CNA at Four Seasons Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. The employees say they just want to be protected and respected for the essential workers they are and until that happens, they plan to be out here.

Suspect in deadly Metro Detroit stabbing arrested

WESTLAND, MI – A man is dead and other is in police custody after a stabbing near Detroit on Tuesday morning, Sept. 29. The victim and suspect knew each other, WDIV Local 4 reports. Police have not yet released the identities of the victim or suspect. Police responded to a report of a felonious assault around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Westland, the report said. Westland Police officers found the injured victim and provided emergency medical attention until a medical team arrived to take over.
