When officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist, a 56-year-old Dearborn Heights man, with critical injuries and unresponsive. A bystander was applying pressure to the man’s injuries, and officers began rendering first aid.

The man was then taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Witnesses told police that the motorcyclist “had accelerated at a high rate of speed and appeared to lose control of the motorcycle while attempting to park at a nearby business.”

The motorcycle then traveled northbound across Carlysle Street before crashing head-on into a building, according to police.

No one else was involved in the crash. Police say the motorcyclist wasn’t wearing a helmet.
