SBA District Director Laketa Henderson, outreach and amp marketing specialist Jennifer Swift and Chamber President Jackie Lovejoy participated in the meeting. The group discussed a number of initiatives that could potentially help the city’s small businesses, focusing primarily on the SBA’s financial initiatives and the marketing, outreach and promotional programs. I am looking forward to more meetings in the future, as we continue to explore and implement the available options.”

Suspect in gun thefts arrested after witness contacts police
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI -- A suspect wanted in connection with a series of break-ins at two gun retailers has been arrested after police were contacted by a witness. According to Fox 2 Detroit, a federal court filing states Keondrick Rayford was arrested Tuesday along with his brother, Kendrick Rayford, in connection to the thefts. The thefts are believed to be linked to a similar break-in at the Armed in Michigan gun store in Westland. The witness allegedly told police Keondrick Rayford showed him one of the guns The next day, Keondrick Rayford allegedly bragged to the witness about being in the news and offered to sell one of the guns to the witness. Kendrick Rayford denied being involved in the thefts, but allegedly admitted to helping take pictures of the guns.

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI -- Four people were injured Sunday night after a Ford F-150 truck was ripped in half after being hit by a Mercedes traveling at speeds around 100 miles-per-hour. According to WDIV-Detroit, the accident took place around 11:30 p.m. on southbound Telegraph Road, south of Joy Road. Police say a 2017 Mercedes being driven by a 32-year-old Inkster man was speeding along Telegraph Road when the driver broadsided the F-150. The 41-year-old driver of the truck and the driver of the Mercedes were transported to a nearby hospital and were reportedly in stable condition. Two passengers in the F-150 -- a 32-year-old Canton Township man and a 26-year-old Inkster man -- are also currently hospitalized and are in critical condition.

Michigan man shot by police after driving vehicle toward officer in Dearborn Heights
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI – A Michigan man suffered a grazing gunshot wound after he allegedly attempted to hit a police officer with his vehicle. According to the Dearborn Heights Police Department, the incident occurred in the 8600 block of Evangeline Street south of Joy Road in Dearborn Heights at 6:31 a.m. on Monday when an officer noticed a vehicle which was involved in previous separate flee and elude incidents. However, while speaking with a family member, the officer noticed movement inside the vehicle, which had significant window tint. The driver then fled the area to a relative’s home in Detroit where he was arrest by Dearborn Heights Police. The suspect, a 27-year-old Dearborn Heights resident, suffered one grazing gunshot wound, but refused medical treatment, according to police.
