A portion of eastbound I-696 will be reduced to one lane this weekend for pavement marking work, the Michigan Department of Transportation announced.

From 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, and from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, eastbound I-696 from I-275 to Orchard Lake Road will have one lane open. MDOT says all lanes will be open during overnight hours.

During these periods, the northbound I-275 ramp to eastbound I-696 will also be closed, but it will be open during the overnight hours.

In addition, from 5 a.m. on Saturday to 5 a.m. on Monday, the eastbound/southbound and westbound/northbound M-5 ramps to eastbound I-696 will also be closed. These ramps will stay closed the entire weekend.

The pavement work is weather-dependent and could be delayed, according to MDOT.
