Man charged in Monroe County hit-and-run that critically injured 2 pedestrians

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 36-year-old man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run that hospitalized two people with critical injuries.

The crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. on June 21, on North Dixie Highway in Frenchtown Township.

According to authorities, Connie L. Cosby, 40, and Anthony R. Keister, 40, were crossing the road when a northbound 4-door Ford sedan struck them. They were transported to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the Ford did not stop.

Authorities said a suspect was identified and a search warrant was executed on a Frenchtown Township home on June 23, where they found the suspect and a blue Ford Fusion. The suspect has been lodged at the Monroe County Jail.

Authorities said they identified the driver as Michael D. Kennedy II, who was taken into custody.

Kennedy was charged with two counts of failing to stop at the scene of a crash resulting in serious injury or death. His bond was set at $75,000.
