Men claiming to be police officers force their way into home, tie up resident, police say
MONROE COUNTY, MI – Several men claiming to be sheriff’s deputies forced their way into a Frenchtown Township home early Thursday morning and tied the homeowner up while they robbed the residence, police said. Real deputies responded to the home in the 2100 block of Sandy Creek Lane at 2:30 a.m. Oct. 14, to take a report of the home invasion that had just occurred, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The homeowner reported four unknown men forced their way inside the residence and, once inside, identified themselves as “Monroe County Sheriff,” police said. MONROE COUNTY, MI – A Dundee man was arrested Monday after being identified as a suspect in a botched robbery at a gas station rest stop the day before in Monroe County’s Frenchtown Township, police said. Investigators discovered a 21-year-old Newport man and a 22-year-old Dundee man had met at the travel center to exchange marijuana when things went awry, police said. During the exchange, the Dundee man pulled out a handgun and attempted to rob the Newport man and a struggle ensued, police said. The Newport man was not injured in the crash and the Dundee man fled before deputies arrived, police said, adding that investigators quickly found the man on on S. Otter Creek in LaSalle Township. Man in custody after 25-year-old stabbed to death in Monroe County
FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are investigating after a 25-year-old Monroe man was stabbed to death. Police said there was another 25-year-old man in the hotel lobby who was taken into custody. He is being held in the Monroe County Jail. AdMichigan State Police, City of Monroe Police Department, Monroe Community Ambulance and the Frenchtown Fire Department assisted at the scene. Armed man ties up manager while robbing Monroe County Applebee’s
FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An armed man tied up the manager of a Frenchtown Township Applebee’s restaurant while he stole money from the safe Tuesday morning, officials said. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the man was wearing dark-colored clothing and a ski mask when he confronted the manager as the manager was opening the business at 2100 N. Telegraph Road at about 8 a.m. The man ordered the manager to open the safe then tied up the manager and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe. The manager was not injured, officials said.
