DETROIT – Two people have been arrested following a carjacking and police pursuit on the Southfield Freeway.

The carjacking incident occurred on Tuesday (July 15) at 11 p.m.

The pursuit and arrest occurred on July 16, 2025, when Detroit police reported spotting the stolen vehicle.

Officials said the pursuit began when they attempted to stop the vehicle.

Police said the chase continued onto the Southfield Freeway, where the vehicle eventually came to a stop.

Officials said a man and a woman were taken into custody at the scene.

During the arrest, the man was tased, according to Detroit police.

Detroit police have not confirmed reports that the man suspected attempted to set the car on fire.
